It’s been busy here as it sounds like for everyone else. Here’s some unfinished business that I’ve been trying to work on. It’s a blend of indie disco house. A few artists included in the mix are Phoenix, Whitest Boy Alive, Temper Trap, Chromeo, Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li, and more… Enjoy the noise. (cover is work in progress)

New mix featuring Drake, Clipse, B.o.B, Chiddy Bang, Wale, Kid Cudi, Mayer Hawthorne, Jay-Z, Ccommon, T.I., Travis Mccoy & more.

I made a stop by Best Buy today to make an exchange and do some browsing. As I was using their Macs to do some shopping research, I decided to try to launch Chat Roulette on all the Macs. How funny would that be, right? Maybe not that funny, but anyway, they blocked the site before I had the chance.
My eyes then jumped to the iPad. Finally, a chance to try out this oversized iPod touch. the apps didn’t interest me much, so I went and downloaded Baby Scratch App to try it on the iPad. Now I can see a use for it, well, almost. It was fun though. Try it if you have the chance.
I only had one hand so I couldn’t shoot any video while I was doing some transforming on here, but here’s some photos so you can get an idea. I haven’t seen anyone do it on the iPad yet, but here’s yt clips of it being used on iPhones.
Somebody posted a video of them using this app on 2 iPads, but it’s a poor demonstration since you can do all of this on one iPad (playing a beat while scratch tones).
The changing of LeBron James number from 23 to 6 would probably also spawn the changing of his logo used by Nike. I took a moment this morning after reading about him changing numbers to do up my idea of what it could be while keeping the spirit of the current logo mark. It’s an honorable change, but is it necessary? I don’t know. It could be some big marketing fiasco for all we know. (This is unofficial NIke work. W+K, call me.)
I wouldn’t even be surprised if they created a new logo for LBJ that didn’t inject the number 6 into it as they did with the LBJ23 logo (which I think is great btw) in case for whatever reason his number changes again. Maybe they’ll ride the lion direction, or go with the Dunkman logo (too similar to Jumpman23 logo imo), or perhaps it might be something more symbolic such as the Kobe logo that Nike currently uses. Who knows if they’ll even change it at all? Since this was something that LBJ brought up in November of 2009, I would imagine that Nike probably already has a solid amount of design ideas created as they waited for this moment to come. We’ll have to wait and see.
Freestyle flashback! This is an old mix I made that a few (yes, maybe 3 people) have been requesting me to upload so here you go. Some artists include: Buffy, Jossette, Lil Suzy, Pinay, Angelina. Backstreet Boys (what?? don’t hate!)

Worked with DJ Teddy Rockspin of the Commission crew out of Norcal on his new mixed CD dropping this weekend! (January 8, 2010). It should be an amazing release that includes 7 mixes for over 8hrs of music mayhem.

I don’t know about you, but I hate having all my project files just dumped into one directory and then digging for them as I work through a project. This is how I start and manage my project files as I go to help keep them (less) clutter free. This helps to make the work flow more efficient and helps other people that are also working on the project find things just as easily. I’ve put together this process over time while working at different places and adapting to their work flows. The image above should be self explanatory.
One gripe I have about using dates in file names is that, if you don’t already, use this format: YYMMDD rather than the standard American way of MMDDYY. I use this for managing photo albums and other files that go over a year as well. By doing this, you won’t get last year’s 121408 files sitting next to 121409 files when it gets listed by file names.
I’m sure everyone has numerous ways of keeping their work flow organized too. Please share your ways here. There’s always room for improvements.
It’s been almost forever since my last mix, so I decided to blend together all the tracks that I’ve been meaning to put together all into this mix. It’s broken down into 4 segments, but it’s only because it’s about 3hrs long. Make sure you download both zips to get all 4 segments of the mix!

I’ll try to keep updates with the war between these two mobile carriers here. I found these campaigns to be as interesting as beef in hip-hop history. There’s been failed lawsuits and some cat fighting that’s came out of this and I’m sure there’s going to be more coming. This epic battle will go down in the ad books.

since79.com gets refreshed with a new logo, new blog, and some updated pieces.
I finally stole some time to refresh everything since79.com —from logo to business cards. since79.com has been my online home for about 7 years and is currently on version 5. This new version is focused on creating a more personal communication with you through a few ways. I would like to meet more folks out there through social media networking, building conversations with viewers through the blogs and being able to share the things that evoke and inspire me.
The new brush script was hand drawn by myself to add that personal touch as since79 is really my second identity. The fluid strokes used helps to represent my adaptive style.
Looking forward to see how this evolves. While you’re here, please let me know what you think.

Being a student in advertising, I’m always searching for advice and inspiration. I’ve stumbled on this great article posted at Makin’ Ads about professional advice from Hal Curtis, a CD from W+K who’s been around around a lot, seen a lot, and don’t a ton of work. I’m not going to try to rewrite an intro to the article, so go ahead and check it out here.

book
Flipping though this book that my classmate let me borrow (thanks Mel!) and read some interesting words from Johan Tesch properly titled “The Death of Advertising As We Know It.”
To paraphrase, he talks about the campaigns that succeed in attracting people by their own free will is the new advertising. Those that don’t will be rejected. Suddenly the consumer is in charge.
This is a good book to check out, especially for folks like me that are playing catch-up from print to online media.
My 2009 Demo quick mix made for everyone and used as a sampler for company and other private events. There’s something for everyone here—some old school and new school all mixed up, so don’t expect the flavor of my other mix tapes here. 35 tracks in 30 mins!
If ya don’t know, I still DJ private events like weddings, company parties, clubs, and all kinds of events, so if you know anyone that’s in need, please forward this mix and my contact to them for me.
